The One Who Got Us Out

Ted LeoProductshop NYC posts about the financial troubles over at Lookout! Records on account of Green Day's removal of two of its early albums "1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours" and "Kerplunk" from the label's back catalogue. The label's primary source of income in recent years has been the back catalogue and the removal of the two Green Day albums is only a further hit on the label. Green Day were not happy about Lookout!'s negligence in paying earned royalties to the band. Recently, cash flow problems have prevented the label from paying royalties to ANY of it's artists. I'm really concerned for what this might mean for Ted Leo and recent label signee Mary Timony. I say everyone going to Ted Leo's show at The Mod Club in Toronto on September 29th(as well those going to his shows on other dates on his current tour), buy a shitload of his merch.

According to Ted Leo[see update on July 27, 2005], this MySpace site isn't him. At least the person behind the site picked someone worthy of impersonating. ;-) [photo at left from http://../]

MTV News speaks with brother-sister duo The Fiery Furnaces about the pair of albums they have planned for release later this year as well as upcoming tour dates. They'll be coming to Toronto for a show at Lee's Palace on October 10th. [via One Louder]

While surfing the web for info on Nellie Mckay, I came upon the NPR website where I found out that Feist had performed a live session for the radio station back in July. It was a really nice session as she performed beautiful solo renditions of "Gatekeeper", "Mushaboom", "Secret Heart", and "One Evening". Feist fans, you should check it out if you haven't already. And can anyone instruct me on how to rip the audio stream to mp3 format? (I could do a Google search, but I'm feeling lazy right now.)

According to Dave Hamelin (former drummer/songwriter turned current singer/songwriter) of The Stills, he posted on the band's message board some information about the new album including a tracklisting and a tentative release sometime early in 2006. Just Keep Bloggin' says that The Stills' new drummer is Colin Brooks of Sea Ray. [info via Just Keep Bloggin']

Seeing as nothing's on the horizon regarding Portishead releasing a new album anytime soon[I've really given up] and the troops are getting restless, I'd suggest downloading this torrent of a video of Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man performing on Later With Jools Holland on 2002/10/27.
