Popmatters spoke with controller.controller's frontwoman Nirmala Basnayake who states that their most recent record "X-Amounts" wasn't made to please critics. Nirmala says, "So, we go in and make what me make and if people think it's not dance-y enough, maybe there will be some remixes. And if people feel like it's a little too dance-y and there is not enough soul searching than I don't know, maybe we can talk." I must mention that the Goth-slant of the interviewer's initial questioning was just awkward. [via Largehearted Boy]
The cool thing about MySpace is jumping from one band's MySpace site to the next. I was over at controller.controller's MySpace site then hopped over to The Diableros' MySpace site and found out The Diableros' next Toronto show is at Sneaky Dee's on June 9th. From there I jumped over to Uncut's MySpace site and found out Uncut will be at Horseshoe Tavern on May 19th.
Bradleys Almanac has graciously provided an mp3 download of The New Pornographers live at the Paradise in Boston from April 10, 2006.
UK zine Wear The Trousers has some interviews with some Canadian artists including The Organ[interview] and Neko Case[interview]. [via Porchlight(registration required)]
Porchlight also points towards Kwaya Na Kisser who has a download of a live session of Neko Case at CBC Studio 2 on November 4, 2002.
Don't call it a (Jayhawks)comeback, but Jayhawks principal members Gary Louris and Mark Olson are hitting the road to play some live dates together on the US west coast from the end of April through the first couple of weeks of May. Gary does not rule out the possibility of recording with Mark and says, "I wouldn't want it to be the record that I have to market for the next two years, but I would enjoy making a record with Mark." If I could live anywhere else in the world for part of the year it would be New York City in the summer.
